MANOUSAKAS idea was conceived in 1987 by Michalis Papastefanakis. It is the only 100% Cretan Comic, which became very popular in Crete and elsewhere, being hosted by STIGMES the magazine for Cretans and Crete lovers worldwide.
Some useful information/terms for those unfamiliar with the Cretan reality: SKAFTIKO: A somewhat downscaled version of a tractor. It is used in a lot of villages in Crete as a simple means of transportation between the farmer's house and his fields. The front part is "detachable" and is used to plough the fields. ![]() As a traditional Cretan, Manousakas always carries his LYRA with him. The Lyra is very similar to the violine. A knife is also a must as an accessory to the traditional Cretan outfit that he always wears ("the vraka"). Oh, yes: NEVER- EVER make fun of 3 things of a Cretan: his moustache, his lyra or his knife... AND NEVER TOUCH THEM WITHOUT PERMISSION !!! ***smile*** To view Manousakas pages you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader© installed. You can download it (free) from Adobe's© website .
